Edinburgh International Festival Launches at Castlebrae!

On Wednesday 29th March we were proud to host a Launch Event for The Edinburgh International Festival. EIF Director, Fergus Linehan, unveiled some highlights of the 2017 Programme to the whole school community and other invited guests. A major highlight for Castlebrae of course, is that the school becomes an official venue with the performance of Project: R.E.B.E.L by Hip Hop Dance Superstars – Boy Blue Entertainment on 19th and 20th August. Dancers from the group have already worked with all of our students through workshops organised at the school and further workshops are planned in May. Seniors from the school have been involved in a series of workshops to enable them to help manage the whole project as well. Making Castlebrae an official venue is the culmination of a very special 3 year relationship that the school has enjoyed with EIF and during the Launch Event, some senior students joined Fergus for a special ‘question and answer’ session on stage. During this chat, the rationale and ideas behind our partnership were explored and all agreed that both the Castlebrae community and the EIF have gained so much from the opportunities and experiences that have grown out of this amazing relationship.  The Castlebrae Launch audience were also treated to 3 outstanding performances from soprano, Emma Morwood.
